Theoretical Physics

The Department of Theoretical Physics conducts research and education at KTH and is situated at AlbaNova University Center close to Roslagstull in Stockholm, Sweden, together with several other departments from KTH and Stockholm University.

Research groups

• Condensed Matter Theory

  Fields of research: Modern statistical physics, strongly correlated systems, phase transitions, low-dimensional semiconductor structures, and other related fields.

• Mathematical Physics

  Fields of research: Mathematical physics, quantum field theory, and other related fields.

• Theory of Materials

  Field of research: Studies of electric, magnetic, thermal and mechanical properties of materials, based on quantum and statistical mechanics.

• Statistical Physics

  Fields of research: Classical and quantum mechanical phase transitions, unordered systems, soft matter, and biological systems.

• Theoretical Biological Physics

  Fields of research: Biological physics, theoretical biology, molecular dynamics, and other related fields.

• Theoretical Particle Physics

  Fields of research: Theoretical particle physics, astroparticle physics, cosmology, quantum field theory, and other related fields.
